  • Total Time: 7 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup popcorn kernels
  • 23 tbsp oil (vegetable, canola, or coconut)
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • Optional: 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add 2–3 popcorn kernels and cover the pot.
  • Once those kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels.
  • Cover and gently shake the pot to evenly distribute heat.
  • Continue cooking, shaking occasionally, until popping slows to 2–3 seconds between pops.
  • Remove from heat immediately to avoid burning.
  • Transfer popcorn to a large bowl.
  • Sprinkle with salt and drizzle with melted butter if desired.
  • Toss well and serve warm.

Notes

  • Don’t overheat oil—it can burn the popcorn.
  • Shake the pot gently to prevent sticking.
  • Season immediately after popping for best flavor.
