- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- 2–3 tbsp oil (vegetable, canola, or coconut)
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
- Optional: 2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add 2–3 popcorn kernels and cover the pot.
- Once those kernels pop, add the remaining popcorn kernels.
- Cover and gently shake the pot to evenly distribute heat.
- Continue cooking, shaking occasionally, until popping slows to 2–3 seconds between pops.
- Remove from heat immediately to avoid burning.
- Transfer popcorn to a large bowl.
- Sprinkle with salt and drizzle with melted butter if desired.
- Toss well and serve warm.
Notes
- Don’t overheat oil—it can burn the popcorn.
- Shake the pot gently to prevent sticking.
- Season immediately after popping for best flavor.
