Ingredients

  • 2 black tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose leaf tea)

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 34 cardamom pods (crushed)

  • 3 cloves

  • ½ teaspoon fresh grated ginger (or ¼ tsp ground)

  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

  • 1 cup ice cubes

  • Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, bring water to a gentle boil.

  • Add cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Add tea bags and let steep for 3–5 minutes.

  • Remove from heat and stir in sweetener until dissolved.

  • Strain the tea mixture into a pitcher and let it cool slightly.

  • Fill glasses with ice cubes.

  • Pour the chai tea over the ice, filling halfway.

  • Add milk and stir gently to combine.

  • Garnish if desired and serve immediately.
