Ingredients
-
2 slices sandwich bread
-
1–2 large eggs
-
1 tablespoon butter
-
Salt, to taste
-
Black pepper, to taste
-
1 slice cheese (optional)
-
Optional toppings: bacon, avocado, tomato, hot sauce
Instructions
-
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
-
Add half the butter and toast one side of each bread slice until golden. Remove and set aside.
-
Add remaining butter to the skillet.
-
Crack the egg into the pan. Cook 2–3 minutes for sunny-side up.
-
Season with salt and pepper.
-
For over-easy eggs, gently flip and cook another 30–60 seconds.
-
If adding cheese, place it on the egg during the last minute and cover with a lid to melt.
-
Place the egg on one slice of toast (toasted side inward).
-
Add desired toppings.
-
Top with the second slice of bread. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
-
Use medium heat to avoid rubbery egg whites.
-
For a fully cooked yolk, extend cook time by 1–2 minutes.
-
Lightly press the sandwich before slicing to prevent slipping.
